Alternatives were overwhelmed with generous donations of quality clothes for the Swish party on 20 June 2015. The team carefully sorted them by size and type, and invited supporters to browse for new outfits at the bargain rates of £5 for 3 items and £10 for 10 items.
St George’s Church also provided hot drinks, strawberries and cream and shortbread in return for donations. As well as men’s, women’s and children’s clothes there were plenty of shoes and accessories to choose from. Plus the team offered a raffle prize for shoppers: Chris Roberts won a bottle of bubbly and chocolates.
Nothing was wasted – left over clothing is heading off to Africa (Karamoja Project with members of St George’s). The rest will be sold on for further funds towards Alternatives. A big thanks to all who donated and the lucky shoppers who came away with bargains.
The event raised £455 for Alternatives.
Thanks to Emma James-German, Sarah Mann, Sue Lane, Alice Scott and Helen Walton and the other Alternatives volunteers for organising and manning the stands on the day.
