Snowflakes were swirling outside the Alternatives New Year’s Ball late on Saturday night, but the guests were oblivious to the wintry conditions. Well-fed by Rutland Gourmet’s sumptuous dinner, and entertained by Paul Dobie’s floor-filling repertoire, they were busy chatting and dancing till after 1am.
But the best news of the night was that £4500 was raised for Alternatives, from profit on ticket sales, wine sales, donations and a charity auction.
Big thanks to Hunter’s Interiors who fundraised for Alternatives Stamford at their Autumn client drinks party. Rachel Grant shares how the evening went…
The wet weather did little to dampen the spirits of the ladies who turned out to take part in the Alternative ladies clay shoot which was held at Grimsthorpe Shooting Ground on Wednesday 12 November.
Popular local band Waggon Load of Monkeys provided the entertainment at the Alternatives Ceilidh at Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday 27 September, as a follow-up to last year’s successful event.
It made for a great evening enjoyed by all who attended – around 75 – and generated lots of laughter and smiley faces. Caller Maggie did a great job explaining all the dances.
“Let me know when the next one is and I can bring my friends” said one exhausted dancer. The answer is next Autumn so stay tuned for details.
The event raised around £250 for Alternatives.
